 Minutes of the Faculty Meeting with Dr.A.K.Bagga, Scientist E, Deputy Director General, ICMR, Department of Health Research ,New Delhi.

The Principal, Andhra Medical College has called for a meeting of all the HODs of Andhra Medical College on 31/3/2018 at 10.00AM at his Chambers on the occasion of the visit of Dr.A.K.Bagga, Scientist E, Deputy Director General, ICMR, Department of Health Research, New Delhi.

Princial Dr.P.V.Sudhakar welcomed Dr.A.K.Bagga and introduced the Faculty members to him.

Dr.A.K.Bagga conveyed  the  Message from MoHFW, Government of India on SWACHHATA  PAKHWARA and urged all the faculty to follow the  call given by the  Hon’ble Prime minister.

He appreciated Principal, Dr.P.V.Sudhakar and  Dr.A.Bhagya Lakshmi, Nodal officer ( MRU), for their active  participation  in MRU Unit , he  is happy with the premises of  MRU  and involvement of faculty members in research work.

He informed that display of  Swachhata message on website should be done

He asked the Principal to  observe Swachhata Pakhwara in all offices, attached organizations & institutions. He asked that the Activity may be Taken up as a drive  from 1st to 15th April with Principal As Co-Ordinator.

He  enquired about  management of laboratory waste and asked to  promote proper management of BMW. Principal, Dr.P.V.Sudhakar informed him that there are Nodal persons in the  tertiary care Hospital to oversee the activity.

Dr.Bagga also asked to compete for ranking of  laboratories on Swachhata parameters to create a healthy competition and said he will share the parameters  for grading.

Informed of the other initiatives such as association of technical staff for rural drinking water sanitation, Model Rural Health Research Units (MRHRUs) to have comprehensive water sanitation & hygiene (wash) facilities, comprehensive ‘WASH’ training for all new concerned staff and asked to share major activities through youtube/ instagram/ fb/ twitter & mainstream media / press conference.

Dr.Devi Madhavi, Prof.& HOD of  Community Medicine informed that WASH  was being promoted   Under Swastya Vidya Vahini by Medical,  Dental and Nursing students across the entire state of Andhra Pradesh.

Dr.G.Sambasiva Rao Prof & HoD, Pulmonary Medicine informed that the institute is going for NABH accredition.

Dr.S. Girinadh, Associate professor of Gastroenterology expressed concern about availability of test kits for common Viruses. Dr.Manjula informed that test for about 20 common viruses are available in the Virology Lab in the Medical College. Samples are also sent for ICMR Bhuvaneswar or NIV Pune if necessary

Dr.A.Bagga assured that financial support for Virology project will be continued as per the rules. He expressed satisfaction with the MRU facilities in the college. He assured that any proposals if made in the format of GIA & HRD grants will be screened by the DHR.

Dr.A.Bhagyalakshmi Professor & HOD, Pathalogy and Nodal Officer MRU thanked  Dr.A.Bagga  for his valuable suggestions and meeting was adjourned.

Inauguration of Multi Disciplinary Research Unit (MRU) in AMC/KGH on 10.11.2017
Govt. of India, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare under department of Health Research, has sanctioned Multi Disciplinary Research Unit to Andhra Medical College, Visakhapatnam. The Objective of MRU Project is to Encourage & Strengthen the environment of research in Govt. Medical Colleges.
The MRU Project is Rs.5.25 crores Project and First installment of Rs.1.25 crores is released to Andhra Medical College.
The Chairperson of The Local research advisory Committee is Dr.T.Ravi Raju, former Vice-Chancellor, Dr.N.T.R. University of Health Sciences, Vijayawada.
Dr.G.Arjuna, Superintendent, KGH has inaugurated the Unit.
Dr.P.V.Sudhakar, Principal, Andhra Medical College, Visakhapatnam has discussed the importance of the involvement of the faculty of all departments in the Project.
Dr.A.Bhagyalakshmi, Professor & HoD, Pathology, AMC is the Nodal Officer of MRU,AMC,VSP.
Dr.K.Varaprasad and Dr.V.Dharmarao deputy superintendents and
Dr.KLG.Sastry, CSRMO, KGH have participated.
